Tip

Definition

The tip of a cue. This is replaceable and come in many different forms - from material to hardness.

Regular playing cues are usually outfitted with a softer tip than that of a break cue. Regular playing cue tips usually have a hardness that lands in one of these categories:

  • Super soft
  • Soft
  • Medium
  • Hard

Every brand of tip will have their own scale for this as well, similar to clothing brands often differing in sizing from one another.

Break cues often have a thicker, firmer shaft as well as a much harder tip for driving as much power as possible through the cue ball.
